Kettles

If everyone in the UK filled their kettle with as much water as they needed to fill one cup of coffee, we would save electricity. So don’t pour loads and loads of cold water into the kettle, because really you don’t need it.

Cereal

In the UK the average family throws away 130 kilograms of food each year. That is about 170 boxes of cereal. The more land we use for growing things like cereal the less homes there are for animals.

Radiators

If you keep the radiators in your house on low you are helping to stop greenhouse gas. So just put on more walmer clothes and it will help your heating bill.

Chemicals

Did you know the larvae of ladybirds eat aphids and hedgehogs eat slugs and snails? So look after your hedgehogs and ladybirds, because so many people use chemicals in their gardens to kill insects, but the chemicals could be affecting what we eat.

Barbeques

It takes far more water and land to make a kilogram of beef than it does to grow a kilogram of vegetables. So always buy veggie burgers instead of the beef burgers.

Watering the garden

If you are trying to water the plants with your watering can, never fill it up with tap water always collect it from the rain.

American portion sizes

American cars

If you have been reading my sorry note, then you will know I was in America. Cars in America are absolutely huge. And do you know why that’s a bad problem for the environment? Because they need extra fuel and cars make a big cloud called pollution, that causes global warming. So to stop that problem, they could move theme parks and shops closer together so that they won’t have to drive everywhere, or get smaller cars.

Sorry!!!

I have been on holiday and I have not done my blog. I know some of you were wondering and telling my Dad that I should be doing some more on this blog. So your wish has been granted. I will tell you about my time in America and perhaps tell you about how they can change their environment too.

Homework

As you know, paper wastes trees and trees give us oxygen. You should know homework is usually on paper.  So, here’s an idea – let’s stop doing our homework on paper – let’s start doing it on Pictochat on Nintendo DSIs. If you dont have a DSI, easy, your school may give you a DSI for free (if Gordon Brown reads this) and then all the teachers will have DSIs so that you can send your homework to your teacher without having to use paper. A simple way to help the environment!

School

My class are doing another environment blog, because I showed them my blog and they thought it was so good that they copied the idea.  Watch out for it and I will let you know how you get to it when its ready.

If you are a child and you are reading this, let me know if anyone you know has an environment blog too.

Rainwater

Bath water

If you need to get clean, have a shower instead of a bath, because all that bath water will be wasted. If you have a shower, there wouldn’t be so much water needed to get clean.
